John Gomez
Architectural Historian
John will be sharing his research and analysis of the Holland Tunnel ventilation towers located in Jersey City and Manhattan – one of the region’s most innovative, original and overlooked works of early Modernism.His April 15 talk at the Hoboken Historical Museum, entitled “Mechanical Moderne: Architectural Innovation and Influence in the Holland Tunnel Ventilation Towers,” is FREE and is part of the museum’s ongoing exhibition on the Holland and Lincoln Tunnels – “Driving Under the Hudson” – and promises to bring a few forgotten monuments to life.

John will also discuss his plans for the Historic Jersey City Harsimus Cemetery clean-up on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 9:00am to 1:00pm. The VNA and the Village Helpers will be on hand and John and Eileen are asking for adults to be present to help with the estimated 100 students that are planning to attend.
